Dolphins.

I just saw this on Good Morning America. These dolphins taught themselves how to blow air rings for their own amusement. Cool!

Which comic strip do like better?

100% like Calvin and Hobbes better than Dilbert. They are both fine comic strips, but Calvin and Hobbes is definitely better.

Long Overdue Update.

I haven't posted in a while and a lot has happened in the meantime. Here are the main points in a nutshell.

  • I graduated.
  • I'm looking for work.
  • I'm grading part-time.
  • I'm revising two submitted papers.
  • I'm oddly shaken by the death of Heath Ledger.

I hope that catches everyone up!

Drunk Manhattanites and Elephants.

This was a funny NPR story. Click "Listen Now" to hear it.

"Not a damn person doesn't love elephants sir."

How many days will you be away from home for Christmas?

33% said 4-5 days

Fascinating poll, eh?

There are two movies I'm really excited about. One is Cloverfield and the other is The Dark Knight.

Check out The Dark Knight previews. The first one really gets me fired up for this movie:

Done.

Check this out:

This means that I'm officially done and will graduate on December 15!

Interviews.

I had two phone interviews yesterday. One was for an industry position and one was for a faculty position. The interview for the industry position went well, especially considering it was my first "professional" interview. All of my previous interviews were for low-to-no skill jobs like McDonald's or a data entry job. There was talk at the end of the interview of having me visit the company.

The faculty interview didn't seem to go as smoothly. Maybe it was my limited teaching experience. A big sticking point was that, if I'm offered the job, they would want me to start in January, which means that I would have to move pretty soon.

In any case, I wasn't officially offered either job, so the hunt continues.

Are You Enslaved?

Here's one more of today's good comics.

An Interesting Approach.

If all else fails, I may have to use this approach.

Goodbye Myspace.

Today I received a comment from Scott on my Myspace page. It turned out to be a phishing scam. So far Megan, Becky, and Scott have all had their Myspace accounts hacked, which is a significant fraction of my Myspace friends. I think it's time for me to delete my account. I never really go on Myspace anymore anyway... although that would mean I'll never be friends with Tila Tequila. Damn.
